Cultural awareness is key in the translation of a script. A direct translation does not always get the message across as well as a phrase or idea that is culturally familiar to the viewer. This has to be done with an appreciation for the original intent of the writer and director. The script needs to be further adapted by choosing words that will perfectly match the movement of the actor’s lips.
